Model, Actor, Gary LaVard, began modeling, professionally, in 2008. A Detroit native, Gary LaVard relocated to Atlanta, shortly after Washington D.C., and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. With Atlanta, DC and L.A. being meccas for fashion and entertainment, Gary LaVard has placed himself on a successful, professional trajectory by networking and making his presence felt in both industries. Being no stranger to the entertainment industry, as a teenager Gary LaVard hosted local hip hop shows, contributed music production to a top selling hip-hop documentary (Rap Files, Vol.1, 2004), as well as worked with major recording artists. Since then, Gary has walked in some of the world’s top fashion shows, benefiting notable not-for-profit organizations such as Toys 4 Tots, Kids against Hunger, and Washington D.C’s 2012 and 2013 Fashion Weeks. He has also gained attention from gracing the pages of credible publications such as Kontrol Magazine (Objects of Desire Issue featuring Tamar Braxton and Elle Varner on the covers), Hype Magazine, BE Magazine (Fresh Faces Issue), Metro Weekly D.C., high fashion magazine Man.u.Elle along with many others. Gary also added commercial modeling to his resume by contributing print work to nationally recognized websites for organizations such as NEA (National Electronic Attachment) and AU (American University, DC). With no signs of slowing down, in 2012 Gary modeled in an online ad for fashion giant “The Gap” at Pentagon City Mall. Later that year, he also added film to his list of endeavors being featured as an extra on a number of hit TV shows including TBS's "For Better or Worse", VH1's "Single Ladies", USA’s “Necessary Roughness”, AMC’s “Walking Dead”, We TV’s “The Braxton’s Family Values”, Trina Braxton's "Party or Go Home" music video as well as a featured appearance on the DIY Network show “I Want That”. 2013 was an even bigger year for Gary LaVard. With landing principle roles on Investigation Discovery’s “Nightmare Next Door (Tyrone)”, “Bait” a short film releasing in 2014 and becoming the spokes model for the new “Get Tested” health ads, (which are currently seen on all Metro Buses and Stations in the Metro DC areas including Virginia and Maryland), Gary is positioning himself for bigger success. Late 2013, Gary relocated to Los Angeles to study with award winning actress Paula Jai Parker and will also appear in "Assistant Motives" directed by Jean Claude, starring Parker. LaVard foresees and quoted that “2014 will be a huge year for my career as an actor and model”.
